Sergeant Major Carolyn James

Carolyn James, of the Women’s Army Corps (WAC),

was the first woman to be promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major in 1960. She was assigned to the WAC School at Ft. McClellan, Alabama. Before that she served as the Chief Clerk of the General Staff office at ARADCOM Headquarters Colorado Springs, Colorado.
